Multi Fuel Chimney Liner Price Changes

We have adjusted our pricing for all grades of multi fuel chimney liner.

For a while now, we have been selling our multi fuel chimney liner, particularly in the the smaller diameters, with next to no margin for ourselves. This has been partly in response to online competitors, who were pushing prices lower and lower. Multi fuel chimney liner is a highly price sensitive product.

Recently however, we have seen competitors increase their prices to more rational levels, and we have therefore adjusted our prices accordingly. Retail customers can view our new prices here. Trade customers will need to log into their trade account to view prices.

Of all the products that we sell, chimney liner is the one where prices move the most often, either through changes in raw material cost, or in reaction to competition in the marketplace. It would be lovely to be able to say that we expect them to stabilise where they are, but if the past is anything to go by, we'll continue to see prices for chimney liner jumping around in the future. What we can say is that we'll keep margins tight, and react where necessary to competitors.

Cheaper UK Mainland Shipping Charges

We now offer cheaper shipping charges to UK Mainland (excluding Highlands) and Isle of Wight as follows:-

• 0-10 Kg shipments, now only £8+vat per shipment by Parcelforce
• Over 10 Kg shipments, free shipping (10.1-30Kg by Parcelforce, over 30Kg by TNT)

We have been shipping almost all shipments through TNT. However, they have recently introduced a £2 surcharge for deliveries to residential addresses. This makes them uncompetitive in this area, and we have therefore introduced a new carrier, Parcelforce, to handle the majority of our shipments up to 30Kg in weight. We will still be using TNT for larger shipments, and customers will still have the option of selecting TNT at the checkout if they prefer. Full details are here.

Rotorvent Turbolite Available to Order

The long awaited Rotorvent Turbolite, which we originally posted about here, is about to arrive into the country, and is available to pre-order online.

The Rotorvent Turbolite is a brand new addition to the Rotorvent range. The new revolving cowl is lighter, more aerodynamic, more efficient and now comes with an additional strap fixing kit included.

The same high specifications that have made the original Rotorvent such a popular product are included in this product as standard. Fins are made from stainless steel, and the same fin fixing method which has been tried and tested for many years is still utilised.

The main benefits of the Rotorvent Turbolite can be seen on the base of the product. The base is made from pressure die cast aluminium affording a strong and durable finish. The base is 30% lighter than the original Rotorvent whilst maintaining its strength. The rounder, thinner and more aerodynamically designed legs help achieve a greater flow of gasses through a larger area making the performance altogether superior. Tests indicate that the Turbolite provides even better performance than the original Rotorvent. The fact that the model is lighter also makes it more suitable for installation on top of flue systems and methane vents as well as the traditional chimney pot.

Above all these benefits the Turbolite comes complete with 2 fixing methods. The time honoured hook bolt is still the preferred method of fixing Rotorvents but included with the Turbolite is a strap fixing kit. Hook bolts can be tightened in the same way but there is now the option of the strap fixing kit as well for extra security in areas of the country with very high wind speeds. The legs simply attach underneath the wing nut, drop down the outside of the chimney pot of flue where the jubilee clip is then fastened (see image above).

Lead Flashing Price Increase

We have now completed an online upgrade for our range of Lead Flashings. Prices have been adjusted upwards as costs have increased dramatically for lead. It's now possible to order up to 60 degree pitch lead flashings online (previously 45 degrees). UK shipping (excluding Highlands) is now free for all lead flashings.

Aquarius Lead Flashing Price Increase

We have received notification of a whopping price increase on the Aquarius Lead Based Pipe Flashings.

They say:- "World lead prices rose to record levels through 2007 and during that period we received three price increases. Through forward purchasing and by stocking in volume, we had been able to hold our prices to you. With yet another increase about to take effect, we can no longer avoid a price adjustment and unfortunately there will be a 36% increase on Versatile Lead base flashings. Some industry sources predict a weakening in lead prices in the future - if this becomes a reality, we will look to adjust our prices downwards again."

Prices have been adjusted online accordingly here. Customers may now wish to consider our range of aluminium based flashings, as a cost effective alternative to lead products.

Colt Cowls Price Increase

Colt Cowls have increased prices for 2008 for a number of their products including the Large Rotorvent, Small Rotorvent, Colt Top All Purpose, Colt Top 2 and the High Top Birdguard.

We have adjusted online prices for the large and small Rotorvent, and will amend the other products in the next few days. Increases on the other cowls are not large however.

Ecofan Special Offer

Buy any Ecofan online from us and we'll give you 20% off either one of our stove pipe thermometers when you buy it at the same time. It's important that you ensure that your stove is running at the correct temperature. Too hot, and you could damage your Ecofan, so it makes sense to order both items.

We have received notification that prices for the Flueboost range of chimney fans are to increase.

They say, "In recent years we have attempted to keep our prices competitive but due to soaring cost increases in both raw materials and fuel we find ourselves unable to sustain our current prices."

Our supplier has increased costs for Micafil, and we have adjusted prices online accordingly.

New Product - St/St Mesh Birdguards

We have added to our range of mesh birdguards and now offer the following:-

• 150mm Stainless Steel (12.5mm mesh)
• 200mm Aluminium (20mm mesh)
• 200mm Stainless Steel (25mm mesh)
• 225mm Aluminium (20mm mesh)
• 225mm Stainless Steel (25mm mesh)

Regular buyers will know that we used to offer a 150mm aluminium guard. Please note that this is no longer available and all stocks have been sold. Whilst upgrading this product, we have also cut the quantity break to 3 items (from 12) and shipping on single items is only £2. We have also reduced slightly the cost of the aluminium guards.

New multi fuel chimney liner available

We have implemented the price increase on 904 grade multi fuel chimney liner that we reported here. It's a large increase unfortunately as the cost of raw material has increased dramatically.

To complete the options on multi fuel chimney liner, we have introduced a multi fuel liner with a 904 grade stainless steel inner and a 316 grade stainless steel outer. This is the most economical liner for use with smokeless fuels and carries a 20 year replacement of product guarantee (subject to conditions). It comes in at about the same price that our 904/904 grade liner was before the increase.

Please be aware that most of our competitors are actually selling 904/316 grade liner as their 904 grade liner, so please make sure when price checking that you are comparing similar products. Shipping charges reduced

We have amended our shipping rates, and now offer UK deliveries from only £2 for small items. We also ship free of charge orders over 10Kg in weight to UK Mainland (excluding Highlands). Orders large and small, we want them all :-)

Town and Country Stoves price increase

Town and Country Stoves have increased their prices to dealers with immediate effect.

They say:-
"We have not had a price increase since July 2006, and since then we have undergone CE marking and efficiency testing on all our stoves, at considerable costs, but which our dealers are benefitting from. We have also had two wage increases since then, several transport increases, as well as electricity and casting costs. Unfortunately, this has coincided with a decrease in sales, mostly due to the costs of borrowing, mortgages etc.

So, rather than increasing our recommended retail prices, we are having to reduce dealer discounts, and charge £20 towards carriage on each stove. This will unfortunately have to come into force with immediate effect"

We have therefore amended prices online with immediate effect for both trade and retail customers.

Smoke products update

We have updated and re-priced our range of smoke products, which includes smoke matches, smoke pellets, and the smoke stick kit. We now offer quantity discount pricing, and have included new trade pricing in the trade centre.

Beat the increase on 904 grade liner

We have been selling masses of 904 grade chimney liner. Not surprising when you compare our prices to the competition, and allow for the fact that our 904 grade multi fuel chimney liner is 904 grade on the inner and the outer. Most competitors offer 904 liner with a cheaper 316 grade stainless steel outer.

As a direct result, existing stocks of 904 grade stainless steel have been used, and our manufacturers are now using the next batch of raw material, which comes in at a more expensive price. We posted to this effect here. We will therefore be increasing costs for 904 grade liner as from 1st November 2007.

New diameter fire rope available

We now have 3mm fire rope available, in addition to the follow diameters, 6mm, 10mm, 12mm, 18mm and 25mm. Prices have also been adjusted and now include cheaper prices when purchasing complete rolls. Rolls are 25 metres long.

High temperature paint price reduction

We have reduced prices for our Fortafix SP650 high temperature paint, and also included quantity discounts. This is a aerosol paint based on silicone resins with heat resistance up to 650°C for atmospheric exposure. It has a matt black finish.

Multi fuel chimney liner prices held

Following a trip to our chimney liner suppliers and some renegotiation on costs, we are pleased to say that the multi fuel chimney liner price increase that we announced here will now not happen.

It's worth a mention as to why chimney liner prices fluctuate. When purchasing stainless steel, there is the cost of the steel plus a nickel surcharge. This nickel surcharge varies considerably. On top of this, steel needs to be ordered well in advance, making it difficult for manufacturers to keep prices stable.

We currently now expect 316 grade multi fuel chimney liner prices to remain stable for 2-3 months. Once current stocks of 904 grade stainless steel have been used, it looks like an increase may be inevitable. As you can gather however, none of this is set in stone.

More importantly than costs, however, will be the ability of the manufacturers to keep up with demand during the busy heating season.

Chimney balloon price changes

The chimney balloon price increase has been confirmed to us and implemented on our site http://www.chimney-balloon.co.uk/. However it's now the very busy time of the year and, in order to keep the pressure off the phones, we are offering a 10% discount when you order chimney balloons online.

Recently we have been offering discounts to retail customers on some products, whilst not offering the same discounts to trade centre customers. Well, that can't be right, so we have now installed identical discounts for both.

Currently, we have 10% off Negarra MD Plus, all multi fuel chimney liner and components, and chimney liner gathers. It makes for some really cracking deals for both trade and retail customers. You need to order online to benefit from these extra discounts.

We are now offering 10% discount on our range of standard chimney liner gathers, when you order online. This follows on from the 10% we have been offering on our multi fuel chimney liner and components. The base of the gather measures 300mm x 300mm and they incorporate an adaptor liner to pipe at the top. They are available is diameters 125mm, 150mm, 175mm and 200mm, and are generally in stock or available in 1-2 working days direct from the manufacturer. We have today received notification from our chimney liner supplier that due to further increases on the cost of world steel prices, they have been forced to increase their prices on all orders received from 1st October 2007 for the following products:-
