VAT Rate Change

As I'm sure everyone is aware. the Chancellor, in his fiscal stimulus package, will reduce the standard rate of vat from 17.5% to 15% from Monday 1st December. It seems to us that little or no consideration is given to small business when making these decisions, but that's just the way things are.

We have a small technical issue with adjusting the vat rate online, although all customers will benefit immediately from the decrease in the vat rate. Details are shown below:-

The Trade Centre
Trade Centre customers will see that the rate of vat on their orders will be 15% as from 1st December.

Retail Customers
Here is where we have a small issue in that our vat inclusive prices (the ones shown next to each product) are not automatically generated from the net price. Therefore we can adjust the actual rate of vat that customers are charged, but this will not automatically adjust the vat inclusive prices that customers see next to each product. The system will however charge the correct 15% vat when customers add items to their shopping basket and checkout. We'll have to manually whizz through the products to adjust each vat inclusive price online. It shouldn't take too long, but for a day or so, you may see a vat inclusive price next to a product of £117.50, and when you add it to your basket, you'll see it only costs you £115.00. As least it's the right way around for customers.

Chimney Cleaning Log Increase

Another victim of the woeful exchange rate between the Pound and the Euro, is the chimney cleaning log. It's only a small increase, and prices have been adjusted online accordingly.

Rotorvent Back in Stock

The Rotorvent Turbolites that we reported out of stock here, should be arriving today, and we are now taking online orders for them again here.

Vitreous Stove Pipe Shortage

There is a huge shortage on stocks of vitreous enamel stove pipe. Manufacturers are struggling to keep pace with demand. We have suspended ordering of this system until stocks are replenished. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Ecofan and Stove Thermometer Price Increase

Since July/August, the $/£ exchange rate has reduced by almost 30%, and this has meant that products purchased in dollars are considerably more expensive to import. There has therefore been an immediate price increase on Ecofans and Stove Pipe Thermometers. We have adjusted prices accordingly with immediate effect.
